Patrick Seyer of Oran, Mo., assumed the role of Missouri Corn Growers Association (MCGA) president effective Oct. 1. Elected during the organization's August board meeting, Seyer succeeded Brian Lehman of Versailles, Mo.
Seyer previously served the state's growers as secretary, treasurer, vice chairman, and chairman of the Missouri Corn Merchandising Council, as well as MCGA vice president. Seyer also represented corn farmers nationally, volunteering his time with the National Corn Growers Association Production and Sustainability Action Team.
"It truly is an honor to work on behalf of the state's corn growers, and hopefully I can carry the torch as well as Brian has done over the last year," notes Seyer. "Agriculture is always facing challenges. As a voice for corn farmers, MCGA is dedicated to looking for answers from inputs all the way to income."
"As a volunteer board, we're working to make sure growers are treated fairly and have access to all available markets," continued Seyer. "If the association and its members stopped speaking up, there would be no checks and balances. From calling on the administration to investigate price gouging in the fertilizer industry, to working to provide a safety net in the farm bill, and pushing for trade opportunities, MCGA is committed to making sure the farmer voice is heard on the issues that matter."
MCGA is a grassroots organization committed to increasing the profitability of corn production through sound policies, continued market development, and strong involvement in the political process. To learn more, visit https://www.mocorn.org.
