The food processing industry accounts for about seven percent of the total manufacturing sector in Malaysia, but just in 2025, it has seen an exponential growth rate from the year before. Though small, it is robust and growing with both local and multinational company investments, and reliant on imported raw materials, thus providing opportunity for international food ingredient suppliers to tap into the market. Leveraging on the country's internationally recognized halal certification, Malaysia aims to become a regional hub for halal food processing and exports.
