Hearst Magazines President Elected News/Media Alliance Board of Directors Chair

Arlington, VA - The News/Media Alliance (NMA) has elected Debi Chirichella, President of Hearst Magazines , as its Board of Directors chair. Chirichella succeeds Tony Hunter, Chairman and CEO of McClatchy.

"Debi has played an integral role in the News/Media Alliance's success as Vice Chair of the Board, and we are thrilled that she will step in to take the role of Chair," said News/Media Alliance President and CEO Danielle Coffey . "As the news and magazine industry faces a period of rapid technological and policy change, our work to preserve and sustain our industry is more important than ever. I look forward to working closely with Debi as we continue to fight for our members' ability to serve readers across our country with high-quality content that affects their everyday lives."

Chirichella's work to position Hearst Magazines to succeed in an evolving media landscape, along with her extensive experience in financial planning and operations, align effectively with NMA's priorities for the coming years. Together, she, the Board, and Alliance staff will advocate, lobby and implement new initiatives that will support the thriving news and magazine media sectors.

Chirichella stated, "Journalism has never been more important, and I don't take lightly the responsibility we share in supporting it. I'm looking forward to working with Danielle, the Board, and this NMA team to build on the work already underway and help drive it forward."

The News/Media Alliance has also made a number of changes to its Executive Committee, which now consists of the following members:

About Debi Chirichella

Debi Chirichella is executive vice president of Hearst and president of Hearst Magazines, the world's largest lifestyle publisher with a portfolio of more than 30 brands in the U.S., 175 websites and more than 200 magazine editions worldwide, after serving as executive vice president, chief financial officer and director of global operations for Hearst Magazines. Chirichella is a member of the Hearst board of directors.

She joined Hearst Magazines as senior vice president and chief financial officer in November 2011, overseeing the company's strategic financial planning and reporting. Previously, Chirichella spent seven years at Condé Nast, where she served in a number of executive positions.

Earlier in her career, Chirichella held several high-level planning, finance and operations roles at Primedia, and most recently, she served as CFO/COO at Prometheus Global Media.

Chirichella is a graduate of Princeton University and received her master's degree in business from Harvard University.
