NEWARK, NJ - NJ TRANSIT, in partnership with the Newark Alliance, a non-profit organization dedicated to driving inclusive economic growth, today unveiled a FIFA World Cup 2026™-themed wrap on a Newark Light Rail Vehicle as part of Newark Alliance's month-long Kick it in Newark campaign.

Unveiled during an event at Newark Broad Street Station, the wrap celebrates the global spirit of the game and Newark's culture, energy and role as a host city destination. The wrap highlights Newark's vibrancy and positions public transit as a key connection point for visitors and residents alike.

"The World Cup will bring the eyes of the world to New Jersey, and we want every resident and visitor to feel that excitement before the first match kicks off," said Governor Sherrill. "This special Newark Light Rail wrap celebrates the energy that makes Newark such an important part of our state's story. "The World Cup is bringing the world to our region, and we want fans to experience Newark as a destination in its own right," said NJ TRANSIT President & CEO Kris Kolluri. "Partnering with Newark Alliance on this light rail wrap is one way we're raising awareness of everything this city has to offer during the tournament."

"As we prepare to welcome visitors during FIFA World Cup 2026™, the Newark Light Rail will help connect people to the restaurants, arts, entertainment, and local businesses that make Newark unique. Through Kick It in Newark, we're inviting residents and visitors alike to explore the city and experience everything Newark has to offer," said Ashley Mays, President of Newark Happening and Chief Marketing Officer at Newark Alliance.
