The Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and Spain held the next round of political consultations

On February 3, 2026, the 8th round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Kingdom of Spain took place, in Madrid.

The delegations were headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bobur Usmanov and State Secretary for Foreign and Global Affairs of the Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of Spain Diego Martinez Belio.

The parties exchanged views on the current state and prospects for the development of political and diplomatic as well as inter-parliamentary cooperation, the intensification of interaction in the trade, economic and investment spheres, and the expansion of cultural and humanitarian ties.

The sides noted with satisfaction the active contacts at various levels, the positive dynamics of trade and economic cooperation, and the implementation of joint projects in priority sectors of industry.

Particular attention was paid to the effective use of the existing potential in the areas of trade, industrial cooperation, agriculture, tourism, education and healthcare, as well as labor migration.

During the consultations, the importance of holding the visits planned for the current year at various levels and joint events was emphasized, including the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, a business forum, and a number of cultural events.

Uzbekistan and Spain reached an agreement to continue close dialogue between their ministries of foreign affairs in order to strengthen practical cooperation across a wide range of issues on the bilateral agenda.
