Historical Marker Unveiling to Recognize Legacy and Heritage of the Frederick & Middletown Railway

The Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) will hold a historical marker unveiling ceremony to acknowledge the legacy and heritage of the Frederick & Middletown Railway.

WHY:

The Frederick and Middletown Railway was a private (non-governmental) venture motivated to provide faster transportation of farm products to markets and to make money through passenger transport. In addition to linking cities, the electric railway in western Maryland also connected urban and suburban areas.
