(OXNARD, CA) February 22, 2026 - Committed to the principle that everyone deserves a place to call home, affordable housing developer and services provider Many Mansions brought its signature annual event, Bowls of Hope, to West Ventura County for the first time.
Inspired by the soup kitchens that have offered nourishment, warmth, and essential support to those in need, Bowls of Hope is a chance to engage with the realities of
affordable housing and supportive services as a community. Many Mansions is continuing to expand its presence and services in West Ventura County, including through the 2024 opening of affordable housing development Central Terrace in Oxnard and Vista Campanario and Rancho Sierra in Camarillo in 2025. Sharing this beloved tradition is yet another way to strengthen new bonds with the community while spreading awareness
about the tireless work being done to serve the formerly homeless, veterans, seniors, and families of very low income in the area.
"It was my first time volunteering to serve soup at Bowls of Hope, and it was truly inspiring to see so many people come together in support of families in our community. Experiences like this remind us that small acts of service can make a meaningful difference. I'm grateful for the incredible work of Many Mansions and for everyone who helps make this event such a powerful expression of compassion and community."
- Dr. Jeannette Sanchez-Palacios, soup server and Mayor of the City of Ventura
The cornerstone of Bowls of Hope is the distribution of hand-painted bowls that various community and corporate groups come together year-round to paint. Attendees can take these bowls home as a thoughtful remembrance of those who struggle with keeping a roof over their head, and they can start off next year's batch of bowls by painting one
themselves! In addition to other family-oriented educational opportunities, like an exhibition that highlights the causes and solutions to homelessness, Bowls of Hope features a delicious array of soups and other simple, comforting food, all served up by community leaders and public officials. Servers at this event
included, among others, Dr. Jeannette Sanchez-Palacios, (Mayor of the City of San
Buenaventura), Luis McArthur (Mayor of the City of Oxnard), Mary Olson (General Manager of KCLU), and City Councilmembers Gabriela Basua (Oxnard) and Christina Villasenor (Fillmore).
The event took place on Sunday, February 22 at the Oxnard Performing Arts Center from 12pm to 2pm. The festivities were emceed by native Oxnard comedian, podcaster, and healthcare provider Denise Carter. Local merchants supported Bowls of Hope by donating amazing prizes for a raffle and wine pull. All proceeds support Many Mansions' continued work to provide affordable housing and life-changing services to the families that call Many Mansions home. In its West Ventura County premiere, Bowls of Hope offered a hearty blend of great food, hands-on learning, and a sense of belonging-all in support of safe, stable homes for those who need them most.
Many Mansions is extremely grateful to Bowls of Hope's generous sponsors, including Citizens Business Bank, U.S. Bank, Gold Coast Health Plan, T-Mobile, Assured Partners,
Primus Building Solutions, Staples Construction, Enterprise Community Partners, Dreyfuss Builders, and Athens Services.
