WASHINGTON - Today, Rep. Ben Cline (VA-06) announced his candidacy for Chairman of the Republican Study Committee (RSC) in the 120th Congress. The announcement follows his tenure as RSC Vice-Chair for the 119th Congress, during which time the committee achieved record membership growth, helped advance historic legislation that was signed into law, and delivered significant victories for the American people. Ahead of his announcement, Rep. Cline has secured the support of a majority of current RSC members, including current Chairman August Pfluger. Chairman Pfluger is limited to a single term per RSC bylaws.
"Over the past year, Congressional Republicans and President Trump have made astounding progress reversing the damage from the failed leadership and reckless polices of the Biden Administration," Rep. Cline said. "We have a clear, well-developed strategy to further rein in Washington's spending, secure our nation's future, and restore trust in responsible governance. As Vice-Chair of the RSC, I have worked closely with Chairman Pfluger to advance these priorities and deliver real results. I'm running for Chairman of the Republican Study Committee to build on this momentum and continue to deliver principled, conservative leadership that puts the American people first. The Republican Study Committee has led the way for over 50 years in serious conservative policymaking. I look forward to working with my colleagues as Chairman to continue to advance a bold agenda that strengthens our nation, expands opportunity, and ensures a more secure and prosperous future for all Americans."
"I'm proud to support Congressman Ben Cline as the next Chairman of the Republican Study Committee. As Vice Chair, Ben has been a key player in making our caucus the driving force behind our biggest victories in the 119th Congress. He's a relentless fighter for fiscal responsibility, limited government, and conservative values who knows that keeping our promises to the American people is non-negotiable. I have complete confidence he'll be an outstanding Chairman who will hold Washington accountable to our principles," said Chairman Pfluger.
The Republican Study Committee (RSC) has served as the principal caucus of conservative House Republicans and a leading influencer on the Right since its original founding in 1973. It exists to bring like-minded House members together to promote a strong, principled legislative agenda that will limit government, strengthen our national defense, boost America's economy, preserve traditional values and balance our budget. The RSC provides the tools and research that members of Congress need to craft and advance policies that will benefit the American people.
