FORT GORDON, GA. -- May 22, 2025 -- Balfour Beatty Communities, a longtime partner of the Department of Defense, joined U.S. Army Fort Gordon leadership and military families on Wednesday, May 20 to celebrate the completion of the first new homes at Pine Tree Terrace, part of an over $50 million housing investment at Providence Family Homes, the installation's privatized military housing community. The ribbon-cutting ceremony marked a significant milestone in Balfour Beatty Community's long-term, multi-phased development effort and welcomed the first families preparing to move into the newly constructed neighborhood.
The Pine Tree Terrace neighborhood will deliver new construction designed to replace aging housing with modern, purpose-built homes. The development includes 72 multi-story townhome units and four single-story detached homes, offering three- and four-bedroom floor plans designated for accompanied junior enlisted, junior non-commissioned officer, and mid-grade non-commissioned officers. The new homes include accessible units and feature modern layouts, energy-efficient systems, and upgraded infrastructure to better support the daily needs of military families.
"This milestone represents a meaningful investment in our service members and their families," said Col. Anthony Kazor, Garrison Commander of Fort Gordon. "Quality housing is fundamental to mission readiness-when Families have safe and secure homes, our service members can focus on training, operations, and the mission at hand. Thanks to our housing privatization partners, our DPW team, the army corps of engineers, and the contractors who worked tirelessly to bring this vision to life."
The ceremony was attended by Major General Mark Miles, Deputy Commanding General of the U.S. Army Cyber Center of Excellence and Fort Gordon, Mr. Steve Bickel, Deputy to the Garrison Commander, Mr. David Dantino, Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army for Installations, Housing and Partnerships, and Ms. Patricia Baker, Assistant for Housing and Chief, Capital Ventures Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army Installations, Housing, and Partnerships, and Mr. Desmond Herbert, Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army Installations Housing & Partnerships PH&L.
The event also recognized the first family preparing to move into Pine Tree Terrace, marking the transition from construction to community. Representatives from both Senator Raphael Warnock's (D-GA) and Representative Rick Allen's (R-GA-12) offices joined the Army and the BBC in the occasion as the family toured their new home.
"Moving into a brand-new home is incredibly special for our family, especially as this is our first home together," said PFC Chance Maldonado. "There's a real sense of excitement and possibility walking through the doors, knowing we're building a new chapter here. We're also looking forward to being part of a close-knit community with other military families who understand this lifestyle, it makes a big difference as we settle in and support one another."
Since partnering with the U.S. Army at Fort Gordon in 2006, Balfour Beatty Communities has overseen the investment of approximately $134 million in on-base housing improvements, including more than 760 newly constructed homes, extensive renovations and infrastructure upgrades across the community. As a key partner and long-term solutions provider to the Department of Defense, Balfour Beatty Communities continues to work collaboratively with the Army on future plans to expand and enhance the Fort Gordon housing portfolio.
"Today's milestone reflects our enduring commitment to improving housing quality and investing in the Fort Gordon community," said Theresa Steele, Vice President, Project Management, Balfour Beatty Communities. "Since the start of our partnership, we have worked closely with the Army to deliver housing that supports readiness, resilience, and quality of life for Soldiers and their families."
