Milling and Resurfacing on I-291 and Route 218 in Windsor

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that a milling and resurfacing project will be performed on I-291 west and Route 218 in Windsor. This project is scheduled to occur on Thursday, June 4 and be completed on Tuesday, June 9, 2026. The project DOT01710506CN F & H consists of milling and resurfacing a .77-mile segment of Interstate 291 west from log mile .36 to log mile 1.13 and .10 segment of Route 218 from Windsor Avenue to Deerfield Avenue. This project is scheduled to begin milling by G.A. Wenzel on Thursday, June 4 to Tuesday, June 9, 2026. The resurfacing segment of this project by Galasso Materials is anticipated to begin on Sunday, June 7 to Tuesday, June 9, 2026.

This project is included in CTDOT's 2026 Vendor Resurfacing Program.

LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO

Motorists can expect lane closures of I-291 west from .36 mile marker to 1.13 mile marker and Route 218 from Deerfield Avenue to Windsor Avenue.

Exit 1D from I-291 west will be closed on Thursday, June 4 into Friday, June 8 and Sunday, June 7 into Monday, June 8, 2026. Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will guide motorists through the work zone. The work schedule for this project is from 6:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., Sunday to Thursday.

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
