Dagsboro Explosion


The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal is investigating a single-family residential structure explosion that was reported on September 30, 2025 shortly after 7:00 AM in the 25000 block of Gum Tree Road Dagsboro, Delaware.

The Dagsboro Volunteer Fire Company and assisting mutual aid fire companies arrived on scene and found a single-family dwelling with heavy structural damage. The house was occupied at the time of the explosion. One occupant was assisted from the dwelling by neighbors and one occupant remained trapped inside of the collapsed structure. Fire personnel utilizing the Technical Rescue Units were able to make entry into the debris and locate one deceased Victim. The Victim has been turned over to the Delaware Division of Forensic Science for identification and cause of death. The occupant that was assisted from the structure was transported by Emergency Medical Services with minor injuries.

Delaware Deputy State Fire Marshal's along with assistance from Delaware State Police and the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives responded to the scene and conducted an origin and cause investigation. The investigation is ongoing at this time. There are currently no indicators of criminal activity in relation to the explosion. Total for all damages is estimated at $500000. There were no other reported injuries.
