Over 105,000 passengers fly through ABE

(Hanover Township, PA) - Considered the busiest time of the year at Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE), summer travel season is off to a record-breaking start in 2026.

Last month, 105,081 passengers used ABE - the highest monthly traffic level on record and a 5.12% increase from the previous June.

"Beyond convenience and a first-class customer experience, there are many factors contributing to this record number of passengers. Additional connections to Chicago, more seat capacity with the implementation of larger aircraft, and the ability to land in your favorite leisure destinations has made ABE an attractive option," said Thomas R. Stoudt, Executive Director, Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority (LNAA).

By the numbers, American Airlines jumped 32.5%, Delta Airlines was up 10.5%, and Allegiant increased 1.9%. Meanwhile, United Airlines dipped 19% compared to last June.

Here are some helpful tips for summer travel:

• TSA does not require identification for children under 18 years of age traveling within U.S.

• Please allow extra time for parking, airline check-in, and TSA security screening

• Airline ticket counters typically open 2 hours prior to a scheduled departure

• Check-in for passengers traveling with checked baggage generally closes 30-45 minutes before departure, depending on the airline

• Boarding usually begins 30-45 minutes prior to departure, depending on the airline.
