Interferons are a type of signaling protein secreted by cells to help the immune system fight viral infections. Researchers measure interferon concentration to investigate immune responses to specific viruses to better understand treatments for viral diseases and develop vaccines. Traditional measurement methods like enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) rely on expensive antibodies that have limited shelf lives, reported inaccuracies, and low efficacy with interferon binding. This gap leads to inaccurate interferon concentration measurements and complicates product utilization.
