City Offers Self-Serve Sandbag Filling Station

Yuma, Ariz. - With the potential for heavy rainfall this week due to the monsoon season, the City of Yuma Public Works Department is providing residents with a self-serve sandbag filling station in the parking lot of the Yuma Civic Center (1440 W. Desert Hills Drive).

The sandbag station is open and will remain available until 6 p.m. this evening. It will be stocked with sand and empty bags for self-filling while supplies last. Because on-site shovels are limited, residents are encouraged to bring their own. To ensure resources are available for as many households as possible, sandbags are limited to five per vehicle.

The City urges residents to use caution when traveling during inclement weather. This is also a good time to revisit or update your household disaster plan. For guidance on creating a Family Emergency Plan, visit https://www.ready.gov.
