Colorado Democrats Congratulate Manny Rutinel on Election to Congress

DENVER - The Colorado Democratic Party congratulates Manny Rutinel on his election to represent Colorado's 8th Congressional District.

Raised by a working-class single mother, Rutinel grew up relying on food assistance and Medicaid and saw his family lose their home during the Great Recession. He worked at McDonald's while in high school and later became an economist and attorney. His campaign drew on those experiences to make the case for lower living costs, protecting health care and confronting corruption in Washington.

"Representative-elect Rutinel knows what it means when a family loses its home or needs Medicaid to see a doctor," said Colorado Democratic Party Chair Shad Murib. "He has carried those experiences into public service and given people a reason to believe someone in Washington will understand their lives. We're proud to congratulate him and the volunteers who worked so hard for this victory. The 8th District is sending a determined advocate for working families to Congress."
