DGA Statement on Governor-Elect Dr. Amy Acton’s Victory in Ohio

DGA Statement on Governor-Elect Dr. Amy Acton's Victory in Ohio

DGA Chair Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear released the following statement on Dr. Amy Acton being elected the next governor of the state of Ohio:

"Congratulations to Dr. Amy Acton on being elected the next governor of Ohio. Dr. Acton's victory makes her the first Democrat elected governor of Ohio in 20 years, and the first woman ever elected to the office. She overcame indescribable hardship - hunger, homelessness, abuse, and neglect - to devote her career to fighting for Ohio's children and families. Ohioans trust that she will never forget where she came from and that she will work tirelessly to make life more affordable, take on the cost of corruption, and invest in strong public schools. The DGA is excited to work with Governor-elect Dr. Acton as she puts Ohioans first."

The DGA-backed group Ohioans for Lower Costs spent over $33 million in this race and started airing ads in August (examples here, here, and here), helping the Acton campaign overcome over $120 million in spending from her self-funding opponent and his allies.
