Corcoran School of the Arts and Design music professors Heather Stebbins and Ning Yu are celebrating the release of their debut duo album, SPIRALS, out April 10. Created through cooperative improvisation, experimentation and play, the multi-movement recording combines piano, effects pedals and digital processing techniques to push the boundaries between acoustic and electronic sound.
Stebbins, a Washington, D.C.-based composer and multi-instrumentalist, is known for work that explores the space between memory and emotion. Yu, a pianist recognized for championing new and experimental music, champions new and experimental music and expanding the expressive possibilities of the piano.
