City offices closed Dec. 25 in observance of Christmas Day, Jan. 1 in observance of New Year's Day

City offices closed Dec. 25 in observance of Christmas Day, Jan. 1 in observance of New Year's Day

(COLUMBIA, MO)- City of Columbia offices will be closed Thursday, Dec. 25, in observance of Christmas Day, and Thursday, Jan. 1, in observance of New Year's Day.

Additionally, several City services will be impacted by the holidays.

Residential curbside trash will not be collected on the observed holidays and will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week. Residents can download the COMO Recycle and Trash App for reminders and service notifications on collection day. Questions concerning the collection schedule should be directed to the Contact Center at 573.874.CITY (2489). The landfill will also be closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.

Live trees stripped of decorations and tree stands can be dropped off at one of our yard waste drop-off centers: Capen Park, Parkside or the landfill. Customers can also cut their trees into smaller pieces that will fit into their roll cart. Artificial trees and wreaths that have met the end of their lifespan should be disposed of in your normal trash collection. These are not recyclable.

Parks and Recreation's Activity & Recreation Center (ARC) will close at 3 p.m. Dec. 24; will be closed all of Dec. 25; and will reopen Dec. 26. The ARC will also close at 3 p.m. Dec. 31; will be closed all of Jan. 1; and will reopen Jan. 2.

Go COMO, Columbia's public transit system, will not operate Dec. 25 or Jan. 1. Following the holiday closures, transit service will resume as normal Dec. 26 and Jan. 2, respectively.

Downtown parking meters will not be enforced Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.

Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services will be closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. Regular business hours will resume at 8 a.m. Dec. 26 and Jan. 2.

Although administrative offices for both the police and fire departments will be closed, all other emergency services will be available. Columbia Police urge residents to drive safely, unimpaired and within posted speed limits if community members are traveling for the holidays.
