WEST BANGKA -- PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting education by providing internship opportunities for students from various universities across Indonesia.

The internship program serves as a platform for students to gain practical work experience while applying the knowledge they have acquired during their academic studies.

PT TIMAH regularly welcomes students from a wide range of academic disciplines to undertake internships across its operational units. In addition to university students, the company also provides internship opportunities for vocational high school (SMK) students.

To date, hundreds of students have completed internship programs at PT TIMAH, gaining firsthand experience and a deeper understanding of the company's business processes and the operations of the tin mining and processing industry.

Most recently, six students from the Institut Teknologi Del in North Sumatra are participating in an internship program at PT TIMAH's Processing and Refinery Division. They are undergoing practical training from June through August 2026 to deepen their understanding of tin processing and smelting operations.

One of the interns, Grev William, a sixth-semester student at Institut Teknologi Del, said he has gained valuable experience throughout his internship at PT TIMAH's Processing and Refinery Division.

According to Grev, the open and communicative work environment has made the learning process much easier.

"Everyone here has been very welcoming. Whenever we ask questions or discuss something, the employees always take the time to explain it thoroughly, making it much easier for us to understand the processes we are learning," he said.

He explained that the internship has given him the opportunity to observe the tin processing and smelting operations firsthand-processes he had previously only learned about in theory at university.

"We came here to complete our internship requirement for graduation. Since we are interested in processing and smelting, being able to learn directly at the smelting facility has been an invaluable experience," he added.

Debora Arldini Manik, who is assigned to the furnace area, shared a similar experience. She said that seeing the production process firsthand has helped her better understand concepts that were previously difficult to grasp in the classroom.

"There were several theories that were difficult to understand before. But after seeing the actual process, everything became much clearer. Even though we've only been here for about two weeks, we've already learned so much," she said.

Debora also expressed her appreciation for the facilities and support provided by the company throughout the internship.

"We've met many friendly people who are always willing to discuss and share their knowledge. Besides gaining valuable experience, the company also provides accommodation and meals, allowing us to focus fully on the internship program," she said.

Meanwhile, Zeinswyna Ineme Pohon said she chose to intern at PT TIMAH because she wanted to learn firsthand how tin ore is processed into refined tin metal (Sn).

"Before coming here, we had already studied the production process in theory. However, seeing each stage of the processing operation in person has been far more engaging and has significantly expanded our understanding," she said. (*)
