Post Date:04/09/2026 10:28 AM

Join us for a free documentary screening of The Librarians, a film that examines libraries, book policies and their communities, followed by a moderated Q & A with Sonia Bautista, Director of Library Services at Commerce Public Library on Friday, April 24, at 6:00 p.m. at MiraCosta College, 1 Barnard Dr., Oceanside, CA. Support from Indie Lens Pop-Up brings our community a film that captures the courage and resilience of librarians, parents, and students who have become first responders in the fight for the freedom to read, standing against censorship.

This program is brought to you during National Library Week, an annual celebration highlighting the valuable role libraries and library staff play in transforming lives and strengthening communities. For more than 20 years, the award-winning Indie Lens Pop-Up program has partnered with local organizations across the country to bring people together for film screenings and community-driven conversations. Indie Lens Pop-Up is a space for sharing ideas and making connections that shape our understanding of ourselves and the world around us.

This program is free and registration is required. Sign up online or by calling the Library at 760-435-5600, and follow the Library on Instagram and Facebook @oceansidelibrary for more information and to stay up-to-date on Library events and services.

Free parking will be provided for registered attendees.
