NEW ORLEANS, LA. - Loyola University New Orleans has partnered with the City of New Orleans to expand access to higher education for municipal employees, advancing a shared commitment to opportunity, workforce development, and the greater good of the community.

Through this agreement, Loyola University New Orleans City College serves as a preferred education partner for City of New Orleans employees, including those working in public safety, infrastructure, and essential city services such as police, airport operations, fire services, corrections and administrative staff.

Beginning January 1, 2026, eligible city employees receive a 15 percent tuition reduction on Loyola Online academic programs, with a primary focus on flexible online undergraduate and graduate offerings designed to meet the needs of working professionals. Many of these programs are also designed to support adult learners, including those who have previously earned college credit and are ready to return and complete their degrees.

In addition, employees have access to select non-credit programs through Loyola's Office of Professional and Continuing Studies, including professional certificates, workforce training, and leadership development programs available online and on campus.

Rooted in its Jesuit mission, Loyola University New Orleans is committed to educating the whole person and preparing individuals to lead lives of purpose and impact. This partnership reflects that mission in action by creating meaningful pathways for those who serve the New Orleans community every day to continue their education, grow professionally, and deepen their impact.

"Loyola's Jesuit values call us to meet people where they are and to expand access to education in ways that strengthen both individuals and the communities they serve," said Loyola University New Orleans President Xavier A. Cole, Ed.D. "This partnership reflects our commitment to the City of New Orleans and to those who dedicate their careers to serving others."

"Our partnership with Loyola University New Orleans aims to create opportunities for the employees who serve our city every day," said Mayor Helena Moreno. "Together, we are strengthening our workforce and promoting a shared commitment to opportunity, service, and the greater good of New Orleans."

City employees enrolled through the partnership will also have access to Loyola resources that support student success, including academic advising, tutoring, and campus facilities such as the library and recreation center.

Serving approximately 5,000 city employees, the partnership reflects Loyola's Jesuit commitment to expanding opportunity, strengthening the workforce, and forming individuals dedicated to serving others and advancing the common good.
