Visit to the Rogun Dam

During his working visit, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, inspected the construction work on the Rogun Dam.

The Rogun Dam consists of core sections, filters of the second and third transition zones, a lower retaining wall prism, an upper retaining wall prism, upper and lower abutments, and upon completion, it will be the tallest sandstone dam in the world with a height of 335 meters.

According to information, the width of the dam at its bottom is 1,800 meters, its width at its top is 612 meters, the width of the dam's back wall is 20 meters, and the total volume of material to be deposited in the dam is 79 million cubic meters.

The tireless energy of builders and engineers, the loud sound of modern powerful machinery and mechanisms at the dam are evidence that in this unprecedented campaign, the construction process will not stop for a moment.

Construction work on the dam has begun, first of all, up to a height of 1,050 meters above sea level, and the foundation of the dam core made of reinforced concrete with a volume of 293,446 cubic meters, cementation of the core foundation with a number of 3,359 wells, and cementation of the dam wall with a number of 125 wells with depths from 44 to 149 meters have been completed.

During a previous meeting with engineers and builders of the Rogun Hydropower Plant, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, instructed to raise the dam to a height of 1,155 meters above sea level in 2026 and fill the reservoir to a level of 1,140 meters.

In this regard, the Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon, was informed that the construction of the dam was carried out in accordance with the approved instructions and work plan, the dam of the power plant was raised to a point of 1,155 meters ahead of schedule, and the reservoir will be filled to a level of 1,140 meters above sea level in the near future.

The Rogun Hydropower Plant, which meets the requirements of environmental, technical and safety standards, is the pride of the Tajik nation, and thousands of devotees of the country's bright path are working on this battlefield day and night, and are working with pride to put this hydroelectric facility into operation at the appointed time.

The President of the country, Emomali Rahmon, also got acquainted with the construction work at the exit of the 9th transport tunnel to the Rogun Hydropower Plant from a height of 1300 meters above sea level.

The Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon, was informed that work is being carried out in two shifts around the clock in the Rogun HPP area, and more than 160 modern machinery and mechanisms are being deployed to it every day.

During a conversation with the engineering and technical staff of the power plant, the Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon, emphasized that in the implementation of the dam construction work, the quality of work and mandatory compliance with international standards should be prioritized, because the patriotic and creative mission that is being carried out today with national honor and indestructible will is intended for centuries and the bright future of independent Tajikistan.

During the visit to the Rogun HPP site, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, was accompanied by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan, Kokhir Rasulzoda, other government officials, and heads of relevant ministries and agencies.
