Media invitation: Space for Inspiration 2026 in Copenhagen

Back to Index

Journalists are invited to attend Space for Inspiration, the European Space Agency's annual conference on commercial space exploration, on 1-2 September 2026 in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The annual event brings together companies, researchers, investors, institutions, and agencies to explore the future of space exploration. This year's edition is co-hosted by the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Danish Agency for Higher Education and Science, bringing together more than 500 participants from across Europe.

The event will be officially opened by His Majesty King Frederik X of Denmark, highlighting the importance of the event for the space community.

There will be an opportunity to cover His Majesty the King's opening of the space conference through a series of press pools along his route from the main entrance to the stage at the Bella Center.

Building on the success of last year's edition, this year's event presents the cross-cutting theme of Scaling Research and Production in Space. The conference will highlight four markets where space is creating new opportunities for research, development, and in-space production: Health and Life Sciences, Advanced Materials and In-Space Manufacturing, Agri-food, and Lunar Construction.

More information about the event, including the programme, can be found here.

At the conference, participants will have the opportunity to meet the head of the European Astronaut Corps, Andreas Mogensen, who three years ago served as a pilot on a mission to the International Space Station (ISS).

The following ESA representatives will also be on site and available for interviews:

  • Daniel Neuenschwander, Director of Human and Robotic Exploration
  • Bernhard Hufenbach (Organiser), Commercialisation and Innovation Team Leader

About the European Space Agency

The European Space Agency (ESA) provides Europe's gateway to space.

ESA is an intergovernmental organisation, created in 1975, with the mission to shape the development of Europe's space capability and ensure that investment in space delivers benefits to the citizens of Europe and the world.

ESA has 23 Member States: Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania and Slovakia are Associate Members.

ESA has established formal cooperation with three Member States of the EU. Canada takes part in some ESA programmes under a Cooperation Agreement.

By coordinating the financial and intellectual resources of its members, ESA can undertake programmes and activities far beyond the scope of any single European country. It is working in particular with the EU on implementing the Galileo and Copernicus programmes as well as with Eumetsat for the development of meteorological missions.
