Port Clinton Students Sweep State “Bringing Our Missing Children Home” Poster Contest

Fifth-grade students at Bataan Memorial Intermediate Elementary captured first, second and third place in the state "Bringing Our Missing Children Home" poster contest for the second time.

The contest provides an opportunity for schools, law enforcement and child advocates to engage students and their parents in discussions about child safety. Port Clinton students were honored at the May Awards Ceremony in Columbus on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.

Taking first place was Lyra Absten; Julia Molnar placed second and Ruby Magrum finished third. Bataan art teacher Laura Courtright, who guided the students through the project, said the contest helps reinforce safety lessons and art techniques taught in the classroom.
