Readout from Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent’s Meeting with Italian Minister of Economy and Finance Giancarlo Giorgetti
WASHINGTON - Yesterday, Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent met with Italian Minister of Economy and Finance Giancarlo Giorgetti. The Secretary and Minister discussed the global economic environment, energy issues, and the Iran conflict. Secretary Bessent was also pleased to engage with Minister Giorgetti on the subject of critical minerals cooperation between the United States and Italy.
During their discussions, the Secretary reiterated the Trump Administration's continued opposition to Italy's Digital Service Tax, as well as aggressive tax enforcement actions being taken against foreign companies.
