Statement from the City of Prospect Heights

The City of Prospect Heights expresses our deepest condolences to the Kirk family. As Prospect Heights is home to the Kirk family, we as a Community must come together to support all Prospect Heights' families and condemn every type of political violence.

Our hope is that this and other recent politically motivated tragedies will act as a catalyst to bring all sides together for fair, open, and civil dialogue. No person should be murdered because of their thoughts and beliefs. Our country was founded on the freedom to speak our minds and the right to express ourselves in the public square.

No matter your political point of view, political violence has no place in our society. Even in disagreement, we must remember we are One City, One Community, One Country. May we all be kept safe and protected during troubling times.
