After All House Republicans Refused to Cosponsor Resolution Calling for Full, Unredacted Release of Epstein Files, Rep. Brownlee Extends Deadline Giving Them Another Chance

COLUMBUS - State Rep. Karen Brownlee (D-Symmes Twp) today announced the extension of the cosponsor request deadline for a resolution she plans to introduce in the Ohio House of Representatives urging the United States Department of Justice to release the full, unredacted files related to Jeffrey Epstein's criminal enterprises. This resolution has the full support of the House Democratic Caucus, and no support from the House Republicans.

"Taking measures to reduce human trafficking and the sexual abuse of children is something that should have support from all legislators, regardless of party lines," said Rep. Brownlee. "This non-partisan resolution is about protecting children and ending sexual violence in Ohio. For that reason, I am extending the deadline to cosponsor this resolution. My Republican colleagues have introduced legislation to combat human trafficking and child abuse victims. What's holding them back from supporting this resolution?"

The resolution emphasizes:

  • The need for government transparency to restore public trust;
  • The importance of holding all perpetrators accountable, regardless of status; and
  • The responsibility to protect victims and ensure their stories are fully heard.

If adopted, the resolution will be formally sent to the U.S. Department of Justice, the president of the United States, the leadership of Congress, and Ohio's congressional delegation.
