Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Ma Jia Attends 2026 Chinese Film Week in Nay Pyi Taw

On June 8th, the opening ceremony of the "2026 Chinese Film Week" to mark the 76th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Myanmar was grandly held at the J Cineplex Cinema in Nay Pyi Taw. The event was co-hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar and China Media Group. Attending the event were Myanmar's President Min Aung Hlaing and his wife, Myanmar's Vice President Nan Ni Ni Aye, Myanmar's Speaker of the Pyithu Hluttaw U Khin Yi, Speaker of Myanmar's Union Parliament and Speaker of Amyotha Hluttaw U Aung Lin Dwe, Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services General Ye Win Oo, and other senior officials, as well as Ambassador Ma Jia, Minister Counsellor Zheng Zhihong, and about 400 representatives from all sectors.

President Min Aung Hlaing extended his congratulations on the opening of the Film Week. He expressed his gratitude for China's assistance to Myanmar in disaster relief and socio-economic development. He reaffirmed that Myanmar has always firmly adhered to the one-China principle, stood ready to deepen all-round cooperation with China, promote people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and strengthen the traditional "Pauk-Phaw" friendship between the two peoples.

Ambassador Ma Jia noted that over the past 76 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, China-Myanmar relations have stood together through thick and thin and have emerged stronger and more resilient. She expressed the hope that films would serve as a bridge to enhance people-to-people and cultural exchanges and mutual understanding between the two peoples, and inject fresh impetus into the building of a China-Myanmar community with a shared future.

The guests watched the opening film Lighting Up the Stars together.
