On June 12th, the Chinese Embassy in Norway held a seminar themed Harmony and Coexistence: How Exchanges among Civilizations Contribute to Common Prosperity. Norwegian scholars, friends, media representatives and students participated in the event. The event featured a video address by Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi to the 2026 Event to Celebrate the International Day for Dialogue Among Civilizations.
Ambassador Hou Yue stated that President Xi Jinping put forth the Global Civilization Initiative, providing a new path for peaceful and harmonious coexistence of different civilizations. In today's world, civilization has never been an isolated island. Though thousands of miles apart, China and Norway share deep cultural bond and rich cultural exchanges. We hope our two nations would take the joint celebration of the International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations as an opportunity to promote exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations worldwide, advocate diversity, equality and inclusiveness, and achieve harmony through coexistence and common prosperity.
Guests engaged in in-depth discussions on the global significance of Global Civilization Initiative and China-Norway cultural exchanges. A Norwegian composer also shared excerpts of a new symphony he created based on his visit to China.
