Defendant Convicted of First-Degree Murder Shooting

On September 2, 2026, Julisha Douglas was convicted by a jury of first-degree murder. The jury also found true a use of gun allegation.

On January 14, 2018, the victim, Michael Craig, was sitting in his car when he and Julisha Douglas got into a verbal exchange. Douglas then shot the victim in the head. Law enforcement released video of the shooting hoping the public would help identify the suspect. A civilian contacted law enforcement after they recognized the shooter as Douglas. The civilian also reported Douglas may have been seeking revenge because she believed the victim was involved in her father's death. The investigation found evidence showing Douglas was in the area at the time of the homicide and Douglas' vehicle was similar to the vehicle in the surveillance video of the shooting. Law enforcement also located social media posts from Douglas stating she wanted revenge for her father's death.

An allegation that Douglas has prior strike convictions for assault with a firearm with the personal use of a firearm, and discharge of firearm at an inhabited dwelling will be determined at the sentencing hearing.

Douglas faces a maximum sentence of 75 years to life. Sentencing is set for November 20, 2026, at 9:00 AM in Department 9B before the Honorable Michael Bowman.
