The European Banking Authority launches a public consultation on the simplification of supervisory reporting

The European Banking Authority (EBA) has launched a public consultation on a comprehensive package of measures aimed at simplifying the supervisory reporting framework in the European Union, making it simpler, smarter and more proportionate.

The consultation concerns the revision of the Implementing Technical Standards (ITS) on supervisory reporting and supervisory benchmarking. The initiative seeks to reduce reporting burdens for banks while preserving the quality and relevance of the information required by supervisory authorities.

The deadline for submitting comments is set for 10 July 2026, while feedback on requirements related to IFRS 18 is due by 10 May 2026. The new provisions are expected to enter into force from September 2027.

Banca d'Italia has contributed to the development of the EBA's proposal and will launch in the coming months a similar and complementary initiative to simplify reporting requirements under national legislation.
