The Greensboro Fire Department will participate in Light the Night for Fallen Firefighters, a national remembrance initiative led by the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. The tribute will take place April 26 through May 3 as departments across the country pause to honor firefighters who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
Throughout the week, Greensboro fire stations will be illuminated with red memorial lights, creating a visible tribute to the courageous firefighters who gave their lives while protecting their communities.
The Greensboro Fire Department encourages residents and businesses throughout the community to join in the tribute by displaying red lights outside their homes or businesses during the week of April 26-May 3. Participating in this simple act of remembrance helps show appreciation for the sacrifices made by firefighters and their families.
The initiative coincides with National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend, when the nation gathers to remember firefighters who died in the line of duty and to support their families.
