VIDEO RELEASE: Senator Moody Engages HHS Secretary About Keeping Americans Healthy at Senate HELP Committee

WASHINGTON, D.C.-Senator Ashley Moody questioned Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. during a Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pension Committee Hearing about efforts to improve Americans' health:

"As a concerned mother who is fully on board with making our food safer and healthier, it was great to discuss efforts to help Americans lead more healthy lives at the Senate HELP Committee Hearing. We have more work to do, but continuing the push to combat chronic disease is something everybody can get behind," said Senator Ashley Moody.

BACKGROUND:

• Senator Moody highlighted the administration's work to lower drug prices, improve health care price transparency, and asked the Secretary about further advances in improving school food nutrition and more.
• Florida hosted the HHS Secretary for the recent announcement that hospitals now must serve nutritious, healthy food.
• Senator Moody emphasized the importance of providing healthy food at schools-30-60% of a child's nutrition comes from school meals.
• Senator Moody also highlighted the administration's work to ensure medical students receive nutrition training to support healthier Americans-prior to the Secretary's swearing-in, the overwhelming majority of medical students received zero nutrition education. Recently, HHS secured historic agreements with more than 50 of the top medical schools-including six in Florida-to require comprehensive nutrition education.
