Economic impact of a healthy workforce topic of April forum at Cameron University

The relationship between a healthy workforce and business profitability will be the focus of a panel discussion sponsored this month by the Bill W. Burgess Jr. Business Research Center. The forum, "The Economic Impact of a Healthy Workforce," begins at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 22, in the Mary Lou & W. Carey Johnson Auditorium, located in Cindy Ross Hall at Cameron University.

"Behind every productive business and every growing economy are people … and people perform best when they're healthy," said Jennifer Ellis, acting chair of CU's McMahon School of Business. "Investing in workforce well-being makes economic sense. The goal of this forum is to serve as a resource for employers on the direct economic benefits of a healthy and supported workforce."

Three panelists will address various aspects of the topic:

• Dr. Payton Flournoy, DO, a family medicine physician and core faculty at Memorial Health System of Southwest Oklahoma's Family Medicine Residency.

• Dr. Mercedez Bernard, DO, program director of Memorial Health's Family Medicine Residency

• Dr. Debra Johnson, DrPH, MSBS, CIMP, CPST, Oklahoma State Department of Health's regional administrative director.

The forum is open to the public at no charge. For details, contact Ellis at 580-581-7988 or [email protected].
