Joint Statement from Co-Plaintiffs on U.S. District Court IFPA Ruling

The Illinois Bankers Association, Illinois Credit Union League, American Bankers Association and America's Credit Unions issued the following statement after today's U.S. District Court ruling in our lawsuit challenging the Illinois Interchange Fee Prohibition Act:

"We welcome the latest order in our Illinois Interchange Fee Prohibition Act litigation extending the U.S. District Court's permanent injunction to federal credit unions in addition to all federally chartered financial institutions and the payment networks. The order means that only certain state-chartered institutions, and especially those chartered in Illinois, would be forced to comply with the misguided law when it takes effect next July. In light of the court's actions, state lawmakers should do the responsible thing and finally repeal IFPA in full and spare Illinois consumers and businesses from the payment chaos it would create."
