Alexandria, VA - The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International is pleased to announce Congressman Neal Dunn, M.D., as a recipient of the 2026 9-1-1 Impact Awards. Congressman Dunn, along with his fellow 2026 9-1-1 Impact Award recipients, exemplifies a strong commitment to advancing public safety communications.
Congressman Dunn serves as Vice Chairman of the Energy and Commerce Committee and represents Florida's 2nd Congressional District. Congressman Dunn co-led the introduction of the First Responder Network Authority Reauthorization Act (H.R. 7386). This legislation, which would extend the nationwide public safety broadband network beyond its 2027 sunset, recently advanced out of the Energy and Commerce Committee with unanimous, bipartisan support.
"We commend Congressman Dunn for making the reauthorization of the nationwide public safety broadband network a top priority. This is a critical priority for first responders who depend on its service," said APCO CEO and Executive Director Mel Maier. "We are pleased to recognize his important work, as well as the work of our other 2026 awardees, at this year's 9-1-1 Impact Awards."
The 9-1-1 Impact Awards are an opportunity to honor individuals who have contributed significantly to the field of public safety communications policy and reflect upon the successes of our community as a whole. APCO's 2026 9-1-1 Impact Award recipients, including Congressman Dunn, will be recognized by leaders from the public safety community, government and industry during a special reception held in Washington, D.C., this month.
