Willowbrooke at Tanner and the City of Carrollton invite the community to come together for the annual Light Up the Night event on Friday, April 24, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the North Lakeshore Greenbelt Trailhead on Lumpkin Drive in Carrollton.
Light Up the Night is a free, family-friendly event focused on raising mental health awareness, reducing stigma and encouraging connection ahead of Mental Health Awareness Month in May. Community members of all ages are invited to gather with friends and neighbors, grab a glow stick and be a light in the darkness.
The evening will feature music, sound therapy, yoga by the lake, expressive therapy activities, equine therapy, pet therapy, a vendor market and food trucks. Activities are designed to promote creativity, conversation and well-being in a welcoming outdoor setting.
"Light Up the Night is about creating space for connection and reminding people they don't have to face mental health challenges alone," said Meagen Thompson, director of behavioral health and development at Willowbrooke at Tanner. "When we come together as a community, we help create more good days, together."
"Carrollton is a community that looks out for one another, and events like Light Up the Night reflect that spirit," said Mayor Betty B. Cason of the City of Carrollton. "By coming together to raise awareness and support mental health, we remind our neighbors that they are not alone and that help, hope and compassion are always close by."
Willowbrooke at Tanner thanks Southwire, the presenting sponsor of Light Up the Night, for its support of mental health awareness and its continued commitment to the community.
The event is free and open to the public. No registration is required.
