'As an oncologist, my biggest concern is not that unwashed produce directly causes cancer, but that it can expose people, especially those with weakened immune systems, to infections,' Najeeb Al Hallak, M.D., MS, medical oncologist and co-leader of the Gastrointestinal and Neuroendocrine Oncology Multidisciplinary Team at Karmanos, told Parade. He said these infections can be life-threatening to cancer patients.
