Michigan Statewide Veteran Service Provision Grant Letter of Intent Due August 14

LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) today announced that letters of intent (LOIs) for the Fiscal Year 2027 (FY27) Statewide Veteran Service Provision Grant (SVSPG) are due by 12:00 p.m. EDT on August 14, 2026.

The SVSPG provides critical funding to increase the number of veterans applying for service-connected disability compensation, enrolling in U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs healthcare and accessing other federal veterans benefits. Eligible applicants include organizations recognized by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Office of General Counsel or organizations holding a congressional charter that employ state-accredited veteran service officers to prepare claims for benefits administered by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Benefits Administration.

In Fiscal Year 2026, more than $4 million was awarded through the SVSPG to the Michigan Veterans Coalition, comprised of the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Vietnam Veterans of America. A total of $4,021,500 is available through the program for FY27 to continue expanding access to veteran benefits and services across Michigan.

"Every veteran deserves access to the benefits they earned through their service to our nation," said Marie Douville, program manager for the Michigan DMVA. "The SVSPG strengthens Michigan's network of accredited veteran service officers, helping more veterans navigate the benefits process, access healthcare and secure the compensation and services they have earned. By investing in these organizations, we are ensuring veterans across Michigan have knowledgeable advocates to guide them every step of the way."

Eligible organizations must submit a letter of intent by 12:00 p.m. EDT on August 14, 2026. The full application deadline is 12:00 p.m. EDT on September 11, 2026, with award letters and grant agreements anticipated to be distributed on September 18, 2026.
