On April 10, Mr. Fan Xuecheng, Charge d'Affaires ad interim of the Chinese Embassy in Uganda attended and addressed the ceremony for the donation of supplies from the Chinese Women's Association in Uganda to the local "African Ewaka" children's welfare home.
Mr. Fan stated that the Association's practical acts of kindness, such as donating supplies and drilling drinking-water well, are vivid examples of the overseas Chinese communities in Uganda fulfilling its social responsibility and giving back to the local society. Mr. Fan also mentioned that this year is the China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges, and he hoped that the overseas Chinese communities and enterprises in Uganda could take the opportunity to contribute more charitable actions to solidify the foundation for the friendly exchanges between Chinese and Ugandan peoples as well as inject new momentum into deepening China-Uganda friendship and cooperation.
Tong Fang, President of the Association said that they will continue to contribute to the development and well-being of local women and children, and convey the friendship between China and Uganda through practical actions.
Mr. Fan also accepted on-site interviews with UBC TV and other local medias.
