Full Funding Authorized for GSA Headquarters Renovation

June 08, 2026

Transportation & Infrastructure Committee authorized full financial support

WASHINGTON - Today, the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) announced the Transportation & Infrastructure Committee's full financial support of its headquarters renovation at 1800 F Street NW. The final approval marks a major milestone and accelerates the design and construction phase of a project that will restore this historic gem to its rightful place of prominence in the heart of the nation's capital.

"We applaud Chairman Graves, Chairman Perry, and Ranking Member Larsen and the bi-partisan support from the Transportation & Infrastructure Committee to provide full funding for our headquarters design and construction," said GSA Administrator Edward C. Forst. "This will pave the way for a high-quality and dynamic federal campus, setting a new high watermark for building design. Once completed, 1800 F will inspire excellence, connect people, and elevate the way GSA delivers for the American taxpayer."

The final budget approval unlocks the building's complete potential and ensures its long-term viability and full occupancy. This initiative is poised to become a model for responsible federal real estate management, creating high-performance and shared workspaces for the future.

GSA will temporarily relocate with the Office of Personnel Management at the Theodore Roosevelt Building during the 1800 F Street renovation. Upon project completion in December 2028, both agencies will move into the redesigned space, establishing a shared facility that will enhance space and taxpayer value.
