Eastbound I-580 Richmond-San Rafael Bridge Daytime Lane Closures Concluded for the Richmond San Rafael Bridge Substation Project

Contra Costa County & Marin County - Caltrans will end lane closures on the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge (I-580) for maintenance tied to the substation project. The last closure is scheduled for Friday, May 1, 2026; all field work is paused due to coordination and delivery issues and is expected to restart tentatively on November 1, 2026.

Closure Details:

  • Eastbound I-580: Right shoulder closed during daytime, 5:00 AM - 2:00 PM.
    Continues: Thursday, April 30, 2026
    Ends: Friday, May 1, 2026
    Resumes: Tentatively November 1,2026

Traffic Control Measures:

Changeable Message Signs (CMS) will alert drivers of closure.

Motorists should expect minor delays, reduce speed, and plan extra travel time.
