As climate change continues to be one of the most pressing challenges facing communities around the world, TikTok remains committed to helping our global community access trusted information, learn from diverse voices and take part in meaningful climate conversations.
The United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP31, will take place in Antalya, Türkiye. As in previous years, we are using this moment to build on our work in this space, supporting climate literacy, elevating authoritative information and championing the creators, organisations and innovators driving climate action on and off our platform.
Since COP26, TikTok's global #ClimateAction campaign has helped bring climate conversations to communities around the world, with the hashtag now surpassing 6 billion video views globally. At COP31, we are expanding the campaign with new initiatives and programming, with the aim of exciting, engaging and educating global audiences on climate-related content.
Authoritative voices are central to this work. To coincide with COP31, we are pleased to announce that Verified for Climate, a joint programme of the United Nations and Purpose, is expanding to Australia. The programme brings together a team of Verified Champions, including scientists and trusted experts, who hav posted more than 1,500 videos to date, reaching over 1.7 billion views. With this expansion, we look forward to bringing more educational and informative climate content to our community in Australia.
To further drive global climate impact, TikTok is announcing a partnership with The Earthshot Prizeto support its 2026 Finalists. The Earthshot Prize finds, celebrates and helps scale the solutions that will help repair our planet by 2030, across its five Earthshots: Protect and Restore Nature, Clean Our Air, Revive Our Oceans, Build a Waste-Free World and Fix Our Climate. TikTok is providing a dedicated $1 million ad credit fund to be shared between the 2026 Finalists, to support and raise awareness of these breakthrough climate solutions.
We are also supporting the NGOs and organisations using their content and voice to champion climate action on TikTok. In the lead-up to and during COP31, we have launched a dedicated ad-credit fund to help selected climate and sustainability organisations increase the reach of their educational content. Among them is the UNFCCC (@unclimatechange), the United Nations entity tasked with supporting the global response to the climate crisis. In Türkiye, the fund is supporting Sıfır Atık Vakfı (@sifiratikvakfi), a key partner of COP31 advancing the zero waste agenda across the country and beyond, and Çevre Ağacı (@cevreagaci), a volunteer group that cleans up waste and litter from nature and raises awareness of environmental protection through its content.
Our Road to COP31 activity also included a partnership with the Sustainable Brands Conference in Istanbul, which brings together business leaders, brands and sustainability professionals to explore how the corporate sector can accelerate progress on climate goals. At our TikTok LIVE booth, we hosted conversations with corporate leaders, whose role is critical to combating climate change, and broadcast them to a wider audience beyond the conference, giving our community the chance to hear directly from the organisations shaping the transition to a more sustainable future.
At COP31 itself, we will once again bring a group of creators to Antalya to capture stories from the summit and the surrounding community, share behind-the-scenes perspectives and help our community follow the conversations taking place on the ground. They include Australian science communicator, author and broadcaster Dr Karl (@drkarl), who uses TikTok to make science accessible and engaging for broad audiences, and French visual artist Marlène Diard (@aartemisartworks), co-founder of the artistic duo Aartemis, whose collaborative work explores femininity, emotion and the human condition. Follow them on TikTok for the latest updates from COP31.
Through our #ClimateAction campaign, our partnership with The Earthshot Prize, support for climate organisations and the work of our creators and Verified Champions, TikTok remains committed to making climate information more accessible and helping our community take part in the conversations that matter, at COP31 and beyond.
