Alexandria, VA-Burke & Herbert Bank today announced that Cornerstone Craftsman would be the 2026-2027 recipient for their annual Goals for Good program. Cornerstone Craftsman will receive $100 from the Bank for each goal scored by the Washington Capitals during the National Hockey League (NHL) regular season. This unique partnership with Monumental Sports, broadcasters of the hometown Capitals, raises awareness for critical needs in the region while providing a mechanism for building both monetary and tangible support for the selected organization.
"As a community bank, investing in our neighbors is core to who we are," said David Boyle, Chief Executive Officer of Burke & Herbert Bank. "By selecting Cornerstone Craftsman as our Goals for Good recipient, we are supporting an organization that gives local young people needed life skills, job training, mentorship, and a path to opportunity. We are honored to partner with them and invite everyone to cheer on the home team and help us support their mission."
We are thrilled and honored that Burke & Herbert Bank chose Cornerstone Craftsman as its Goals for Good recipient," said Roberto Gomez, Executive Director of Cornerstone Craftsman. "Every goal the Capitals score this season helps a young person in Alexandria pick up a tool, learn a trade, and see a future they can build. Thank you, Burke & Herbert Bank, for believing in our youth. We will be cheering loudly all season long."
Through this partnership with Monumental Sports, the Bank has raised awareness and provided support for a variety of worthy not-for-profits in the DC Metro area since 2014. Burke & Herbert Bank has provided sizable donations to United Community, Northern Virginia Family Services, the Capital Youth Empowerment Program, Willing Warriors, GrandInvolve, Most Valuable Kids Inc., Alice's Kids, Inc., Connect our Kids, Inc., Rebuilding Together DC-Alexandria, Homestretch, Inc., and Operation Renewed Hope Foundation.
About Cornerstone Craftsman
opens in a new windowCornerstone Craftsman is an Alexandria-based nonprofit that provides youth ages 12 to 17 with hands-on skilled trades training through its pre-apprenticeship program. The work goes well beyond the job site. Through mentorship, life-skills coaching, and one-on-one support from caring adult role models, young people build confidence, gain career and life skills, and open real pathways to economic self-sufficiency. Demand is strong: the program keeps a waitlist of more than 40 young people, and other communities have shown interest in replicating its model.
