BATON ROUGE- Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) and Loyola University New Orleans have signed a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that creates a seamless pathway for BRCC graduates to earn a Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) degree entirely online from Loyola.

During a signing ceremony held at BRCC's Mid City campus on Nov. 19, at 11 a.m., BRCC Chancellor Willie E. Smith Sr. and Loyola University Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Thomas A. Chambers celebrated the launch of this transfer partnership.

"This 2+2 transfer program gives BRCC students a direct pathway to a high-quality bachelor's degree from Loyola in a way that is affordable and flexible," BRCC Chancellor Willie E. Smith Sr. said. "This is a way to meet our students where they are, and to offer a program that works for them. I want our students to know that their journey doesn't end here at BRCC. We continue to connect them to future educational and employment opportunities, even after graduation."

This agreement offers something no other institution provides: a guaranteed transfer pathway for all BRCC students, regardless of major, into a 4-year degree program. All 60 credits from their two-year BRCC degree will be accepted. These students will start with first-semester junior standing in Loyola City College's Online Bachelor of Applied Sciencedegree completion program. They can then choose two different specializations to tailor the degree to their own career goals.

"When students can continue their education without interruption, their momentum grows - and the benefits extend to their families, their communities, and the workforce here in Louisiana," said Dr. Thomas Chambers, Loyola University Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs. "This partnership recognizes the strengths BRCC students bring and helps them advance in their chosen fields with confidence."
