Prof. Willow Presents Second Series of AI Research

Charles Willow, Ph.D., associate professor in the Department of Management and Leadership in the Leon Hess Business School, recently presented his research in the 2026 National Business & Economics Society (NBES) Conference in Waikoloa, Hawaii, on March 6.

Willow's presentation, "Artificial Intelligence Simulation for Social Security Privatization," represents his second series of comparative analysis between traditional AI (TAI) and the more recent generative AI (GAI). This new research simulates the effectiveness and efficiency of possible privatization of the social security financial model as the system potentially approaches insolvency.

Willow explains that the TAI versus GAI comparison is more often touted as that of the manual stick shift versus auto shift. "As the global economy gears itself to accept the GAI model, its set of shortcomings have become salient, simultaneously," he adds. "Most important, both data and algorithmic biases have been reported to be ineffective."

Through his research, Willow concludes that custom-built TAI models may provide remedial measures for many systems at the present juncture, tentatively.
