22 new projects to build capacities for 105 organisations in Ukraine under EU’s Erasmus+ Programme

22 new projects involving 105 organisations from Ukraine have been recommended for funding under the European Union Erasmus+ Programme for Capacity Building in the Field of Higher Education Action (CBHE) in 2026. This year, the 180 projects proposed for funding include the participation as partners or coordinators of over 1,639 higher education stakeholders from almost 116 countries. Ukraine is in top 5 leaders by the number of projects recommended for funding.

New 22 projects for Ukraine focus on European approach of sustainable development in higher education, education resilience and post-war rebuilding, green and digital transitions, water and climate resilience, modernisation of STEAM education, sustainable materials engineering, eco design and resilient manufacturing technology, smart mobility, good governance, social impact learning, resilient and inclusive communities, research management excellence, sustainable entrepreneurship for reconstruction and internationalisation, dual education and other.

According to the level of the impact and experience of partners, the projects are differentiated by three stands: 1) Fostering access to cooperation, 2) Partnerships for Transformation, 3) Structural reforms.

There are 15 national projects, 4 regional and 3 cross-regional projects among funded. 194 partners from 29 countries are among the project teams: 79 partners from Programme Countries and 27 from Partner Countries, representing Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Danmark, Egypt, Finland, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Netherlands, Norway, Palestine, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Somalia, Spain, Sweden, Turkey and 105 from Ukraine.

105 partners from Ukraine represent 61 higher education institutions, Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance, National Qualification Agency and 10 other organisations, including IT clusters, other business organisations, scientific and methodological center, NGOs.

10 Ukrainian universities act as 11 project grantholders-coordinators: National University "Kyiv Aviation Institute (2), Lviv Polytechnic National University, Poltava V.G. Korolenko National Pedagogical University, National N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, Kharkiv National Automobile and Highway University, Chernihiv Polytechnic National University, Nizhyn Mykola Gogol State University, Odesa National Economic University, Central Ukrainian National Technical University, Ukrainian Catholic University.

60 HEIs from Ukraine represent state, communal and private ones, classical, polytechnics, medical, pedagogical, economic, agrarian, architecture, transport, automobile, tax, customs from different cities of Ukraine, experienced and newcomers. 7 partnerships include 6 relocated universities from the temporary occupied territories.

Most number of projects were received by Dnipro University of Technology (5), Lviv Polytechnic National University (4), National N. Karazin Kharkiv National University (4), Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine (3 projects), Lutsk National Technical University (3), Taras Shevchenko National university of Kyiv (3), West Ukrainian University (3) and 13 Universities are in 2 projects partnerships.

From 2015-2026 Erasmus+ calls 140 CBHE projects funded by EU for Ukraine to contribute to the higher education reforms in Ukraine, Eurointegration processes and building new Ukraine based on the innovations and best practices of the partners from the EU Member States Universities.
