Metro Action Summer Youth Employment: Building Futures Through Summer Work

The Metropolitan Action Commission (MAC) has officially opened its POWER Youth Summer Employment portal for Davidson County youth to apply for summer jobs and work projects.

In Summer 2025, MAC partnered with more than 100 Metro departments, nonprofits, and city organizations to employ over 1,500 youth ages 14-22, investing approximately $3 million in wages to support area youth. This year, MAC expects to provide over 1,000 paid opportunities for young people to gain valuable work experience.

"Our goal is to ensure that young people in Davidson County have access to meaningful work experiences that prepare them for future success," said Tanya Evrenson, Director of Workforce and Youth Development. "These opportunities not only provide income but also build skills, confidence, and connections that last a lifetime."

Youth applicants must have a Davidson County address to be eligible for the POWER Youth Summer Employment program. To apply, visit poweryouth.nashville.gov. Opportunities are organized by age group:

  • Ages 14-15: Experience Work participants earn $12/hour while working on community development projects.
  • Ages 16-19: High School Interns earn $15/hour, working independently at private, public, and nonprofit job sites. They also receive pre-program training and coaching.
  • Ages 20-22: Youth Ambassadors (college students) earn $18/hour working at various summer programs.

All summer positions begin June 1 and end July 17, 2026.

To ensure access, MAC provides dedicated computers at its main location (1281 Murfreesboro Pike) for applicants who need them. The new portal requires an email address; applicants without one may create a free account. The application portal closes April 24, 2026.
