WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Congressman Mike Flood (R-Nebraska) issued a statement following news that Google/YouTube TV and Disney/Hulu + Live TV had signed agreements to carry C-SPAN.
"This morning's announcement that both YouTube TV and Hulu will add C-SPAN to their offerings is great news for public access to the work of Washington and transparency in our government. Since 1979, C-SPAN has offered gavel-to-gavel coverage of Capitol Hill and as more Americans switch to streaming, the decision by the streaming services to carry the network means even more households can see the work of our democratic republic directly. I applaud Google/YouTube TV and Disney/Hulu + Live TV adding C-SPAN and hope additional streaming services follow their example in the near future."
Over the course of several months, Congressman Flood had led a bipartisan letter to the streaming networks, delivered a floor speech on the issue, and co-authored a Newsweek op-ed with Senator Ron Wyden (D-Oregon).
