WASHINGTON D.C. - Today, Congressman Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced a $240,000 U.S. Department of Transportation Safe Streets and Roads for All grant awarded to Talbot County to develop a comprehensive Safety Action Plan to help reduce roadway fatalities and serious injuries.
This funding will help Talbot County analyze local crash trends, gather input from residents and community partners, and work with transportation experts to identify the most urgent safety needs. The resulting countywide Safety Action Plan will outline priority projects, estimated costs, timelines, and measurable goals to reduce serious crashes and improve roadway safety across the county. It will also strengthen Talbot County's ability to pursue future federal funding for roadway safety upgrades.
Statement from Congressman Harris:
"This is an important investment in public safety for Talbot County and the Eastern Shore. Communities across my district rely on safe, reliable roads, and this grant will strengthen local planning, support smarter infrastructure decisions, and ultimately help save lives. I thank the U.S. Department of Transportation for awarding this grant and recognizing the importance of improving roadway safety in Talbot County."
